Life Begins at 40.

Still rummaging through my race photos from the '80s and '90s, I found an old favorite of mine - a GT40 climbing the hill in the Anvil section at the Glen. This was taken at the GT40 25th Anniversary Reunion which highlighted the 1989 SVRA Serengeti Vintage Cup and brought together the single largest gathering of GT40s ever - over 40, as I recall, including the the beautiful blue and orange John Wyer-Gulf cars, plus the 1966 LeMans winner (chassis #1046) and the 2nd and 3rd place cars (#1015 & #1016) which gave Ford a 1-2-3 sweep.

This image was (again) scanned from a print so it is not as sharp as I'd like, but I like the composition as it gives a feel for the fairly drastic elevation change that I've had a difficult time capturing in other photos I've taken at that same turn over the years. I processed it in Aperture to remove a lot of the spotting, converted it to monochrome and applied default orange filter, with a touch of Sepia to add some warmth and a wee bit of Vignette, giving it that 1960s-Jesse Alexander look).
